Q: Tell us a bit about you!
A: well, my name is laurie and i am 24 years old. I am adventurous, fun, and spontaneous. I love laughing, loving, and trying new things. there are few things I won’t try at least once and I love getting creative with my weddings and photoshoots!
Q: How did you end up being a photographer?
A: I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember. I first learned photography on film and developed my own images in a darkroom at the age of 14. I was sold immediately. I shot my first wedding at 16 and I’ve come such a long way since then.
Q: why do you love what you do?
A: that’s easy… I get to document the happiest moments of people’s lives. there is nothing more valuable than capturing love, joy, and laughter.
Q: what inspires you in your work?
A: Iove. I love love. oh, and laughing. I can’t get enough of watching people love one another and laugh with each other.
Q: pick a favorite role model, and tell us why you respect them?
A: definitely my mom. she is loving, thoughtful, carefree, positive, and determined. her strength is something to be admired and she has set an amazing example for me to follow.
Q: what equipment do you use and why do you love it?
A: Nikon girl for sure. my grandpa first used Nikon in 1950 and I still have his camera J. his manual lens actually works with my new camera body, even 60 years later! I love fast lenses and wide angles, I tend to move a lot when I shoot so I need equipment that can keep up with me.
Q: how would you describe your style?
A: emotional, genuine, and fun.
Q: if you could second shoot for any photographer, who would it be and why?
A: I’ve gotta go with jose villa. he shoots film and it is unbelievable. his images take my breath away.
Q: give us a disaster story. Has anything terrible or crazy happened at a shoot/wedding and how did you handle it?
A: what a lucky girl I am… no disaster stories…yet!
Q: what is the most challenging thing about your line of work?
A: I would say being consistent with my art. my photography is my art. I of course want my clients to love every photo but I can’t change my art to meet everyone’s needs. of course, this is easier said than done.
Q: tell us why you love SoFly!
A: what’s not to love?! we learn from each other, help one another out, and challenge each other to be better women and photographers.
Q: what is your favorite website/blog?
A: I love burdastyle. it is a community of people that design and sew clothes and fun accessories. people share their ideas or creations and tell you how to make it. I love making a cute weekend dress or a fun clutch for a friend!
Q: tell us something you’ve learned recently that you’ve applied to your business.
A: have fun! make friends with your clients… it will make your images 100% better!
Q: give us one item in your arsenal of equipment that you simply could not live without!
A: my shootsac. I love love love my stylish shootsac, it is functional and super cute!
Q: 5 words your friends/family have used to describe you.
A: fun, outgoing, energetic, bubbly, creative.
Q: where do you see yourself in five years, and what are you doing to get there?
